When we look at the evidence that Chihuahuas came from Central and South America, we find ourselves looking back at the Toltec civilization. There are Toltec carvings dating from the 9th century AD, which depict a Chihuahua-like dog with similarly large ears and a round head. These dogs were called Techichi, and their purpose in the Toltec civilization is unclear.
