The sensitivity to anesthesia in a significant percentage of the breed is of great concern. A dose of anesthesia that is safe for most dogs of the same size can kill Blue-Lacys. This feature is possibly transmitted genetically. Since this breed is rare, owners should alert their veterinarians to this trend prior to any surgical procedure.
