The Icelandic dog has a very sociable and inquisitive temperament. Shepherds valued her for her quick wit and endurance. Dogs helped not only to graze sheep but also to look for strayed from the herd – they have an excellent sense of smell, although the hunting instinct is practically absent. Also, the Icelandic Shepherd Dog has a loud voice, which must be taken into account when keeping in an apartment, since it is with her voice that she must control the herd.
