The full name of the breed is Norwegian Lundehund. The dog belongs to the northern hunting huskies. Lundehund resembles primitive dogs with their anatomy. Until the mid-19th century, Norwegian Lundehund was used for hunting. The dogs specialized in waterfowl. Over time, this type of hunting ceased to be in demand, and at the same time, the need for dogs disappeared. The breed was on the verge of extinction. Due to the small number of individuals, the Lundehund was preserved and revived as a domestic dog.
