The breed is an excellent watchdog, so be prepared to bark. The Canaanites are very vigilant and will notice any new or new face on their territory. They will bark to alert you of someone’s presence, but will keep their distance, circling and retreating to watch what is happening. This makes some people think they are shy, but it is their method of responding to new or potentially dangerous situations.
