Canaan dogs are considered to be very reactive, a great sign of survival. A quick reaction when faced with something new, as well as being cautious or suspicious in new situations can save a dog’s life and are one of the reasons the breed has survived to this day. Canaanite breeders have worked to maintain the breed’s character, so these traits are still present, making them excellent guard dogs.
