Temperament is influenced by a number of factors, including heredity, learning, and socialization. Puppies with good temperament are curious and playful, ready to approach people and be with them in their arms. Choose a middle class puppy, not the one who beats up his littermates or the one hiding in the corner. Always date at least one parent – usually a mother who is available – to make sure they have a good temperament that you like. Meeting with siblings or other relatives of the parents also helps to assess how the puppy will be when it grows up.
