Taking care of your downy crested is a lot of work. They have a silky double coat and the undercoat is plentiful and will matte if not cared for regularly. Shaving your face is an option. Powdery down should be brushed weekly, unless the puppy’s coat turns into adult hair, during which time it is best to comb it daily. It is best to use a pin or bristle brush. All mats should be finished and any “felt” between the pads on the feet should be removed.
