One of the breeds close to Bichons – Bolognese, apparently comes from the Bichons of Southern Italy and Malta. The breed got its name in honor of its homeland – the northern Italian city of Bologna, where the breed was bred. Like the Tenerife (French) Bichon, Bolognese became very popular with the nobility from the 16th century. Accompanied by the Bolognese (in the Russian version – lapdogs), Catherine II and the Marquis de Pompadour appeared. Over the years, Bolognese has played exclusively the role of pets, so it is not surprising that this breed is most closely related to humans.
