No one knows if this legend is true, but the cat observed by German naturalist and explorer Peter Simon Pallas may have been Siamese. She was noted in Pallas’ reports on the exploration of the Caspian Sea in the 1700s. Pallas described her as having “ears, legs and a tail … rather black. having an average size, slightly smaller legs than that of an ordinary cat, and its head elongated towards the nose. ”
