Crown Prince Rudolf von Habsburg invited professional game rangers from Mürzsteg and Ischl in 1881 and 1885 and took Alpine brakes on hunting trips to Turkey and Egypt. In 1932, the Alpine mountain dachshund was recognized by the Austrian dog associations as the third track hound. In 1975 the breed’s name was changed to Alpine Dachshund Brack and F.C.I. recognized Austria as the birthplace of this breed. In 1991, the Alpine Dachshund was registered with the Blood Trail Section.
