Canaanites do best with cats when they are raised alongside them and when the cat is smart enough to confront the dog rather than run away from it. Running activates Canaan’s hunting instinct, and he rushes in pursuit. This breed’s strong hunting instinct can lead it to chase and kill small animals, especially those they find outdoors. They are probably not the best choice for families with pets like rabbits, hamsters, and gerbils.
