Berger Picards is a relatively healthy breed. Known conditions include hip dysplasia and progressive retinal atrophy (PRA). At a reputable breeder, the hips will be certified by the Animal Orthopedic Foundation (OFA) or PennHip, and the results will be posted on the OFA database. The eyes will be certified for hereditary diseases also through the OFA (formerly through the Canine Eye Research Foundation), and the results must also be published in the OFA database.
