Currently, the breed is considered rare and in a developmental stage.
In 1993 the owners of the Tenterfield Terriers created their own club – the Australian Tenterfield Terrier Breed Club. Since that time, the breed has been divided into 2 different ones.
In 1992 they held a meeting with owners of terriers from different countries, at meeting they discussed the future of the breed, as well as the prospects for its breeding.
In 1991, the Miniature Fox Club was formed by a group of South Australian enthusiasts.
These little dogs could be found on every farm in Australia. These dogs did an excellent job of catching rats and received the unofficial name of mini-foxy.
