With the invention of the steam engine, the need to escort horse-driven carts gradually disappeared. During this period, the breed experienced a decline in popularity. But after a while, the talents of the Dalmatians were revealed to the owners from a new perspective. They began to get started as companions. At the same time, interest in targeted breeding arose, exterior standards appeared, thanks to which Dalmatians were able to take part in exhibitions.
