There is no exact information about the origin of the Dobermans, since the creator of the breed, F.L. Dobermann, did not keep records. Presumably, the breed was created using a short-haired shepherd dog, a rottweiler, a black and tan terrier and a smooth-haired German pinscher. Dobermann did not manage to complete the breeding work, and after his death, Otto Geller, who is rightfully considered the “father of Dobermans”, continued to work with the breed.
