The Norwegian Lundehund is distinguished by its amazing flexibility. Greater mobility of the joints of the shoulders allows him to turn his paws at right angles. The neck bends so much that the dog can touch its own back with its head. These and other features – such as the six toes on each foot, of which almost all are workers – are due to the original use of the Lundehund. The special structure of the fingers allowed the dog to climb the rocks, and the unique flexibility of the neck helped to move in narrow cave passages.
