The Norwegian gray Elkhund is the real pride of Norway. Bred in the second half of the 19th century, these dogs were used mainly for hunting large game, including elk. This is evidenced by the name of the breed: in Norwegian it sounds like elghund, elg – “moose”, hund – “dog”. But went with these dogs on to trot, bear, and even small game. This is a versatile hunting breed.
