The Icelandic dog is not prone to aggression, but this does not make it a mediocre guard: it, like “adult” watchdogs, is very sensitive to control the “perimeter” and can drive out ill-wishers by raising a noble “badaboom”. Nevertheless, the Icelandic dog is very supportive of other animals and dogs, and also copes well with the role of a nanny – she gets along just fine with children. Of the features of the breed, one can note its special dislike for birds – the shepherd’s heritage affects when the dog was supposed to protect young lambs from large feathered predators.
