The difference in the size of spaniels in England has led to the division of the breed into the American Cocker Spaniel Exterior Cocker Spaniel and the English Springer Spaniel. At the same time, a different process was going on in America: along with cockers, smaller spaniels could be seen. In 1943, the American Kennel Club (AKC) recognized the American Cocker Spaniel as a separate breed. These dogs are very interested in dog breeders from different countries, which quickly gained popularity and spread throughout the world.
