The breed was obtained as a result of crossing several subsequently forgotten wonderful breeds of hounds: the seri (a white and orange dog used to hunt a hare and a wolf), a montembef (a powerful and fast dog used to hunt a wild boar) and larry (a hound with a very a subtle scent).
