Recognition of the breed took place in 2004. ABKC, UKC, and EBKC were the first canine organizations to put “Americans” on the official register. They also consolidated the bully standard, which includes four types of dogs. Some medium-sized associations have developed their own breed classification, based on the exterior and size.
