It was in England, in 1903, that Labradors first received their official recognition as a separate breed. In the USA they were recognized only in 1917. Today, these dogs are used all over the world not only as pets but also as rescue dogs, assistants for people with disabilities, for service at airports and at customs, for drug detection, and explosives.
