A strong, active, small dog with a long, not very wide muzzle. Ears are erect, on strong cartilage, folded so that the ear canals are closed and water does not enter them. The tail is long, carried over the back. Feet with five working toes (other breeds usually have four toes). The coat is somewhat harsh, dense, not long, tight-fitting.
